The University of Maryland holds an event called the Terp Thon that raises funds and awareness for The Kids at Children’s National Health System. At the event, they stand and dance for 12 hours straight to represent the length of a nurse’s shift. The student organization at the University of Maryland works year-round and this year they raised $604,318.24 which is over 11X’s the funds they raised their first year which was only 6 years ago!
