Terp Thon at the University of Maryland
Terp Thon is a student organization at the University of Maryland that raises money and awareness for Children’s National Health System, in association with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Miracle Network Dance Marathon program. With more than 150 students actively involved, and more than 2,000 students fundraising for the cause, Terp Thon is the largest independent student organization at the University of Maryland and the largest student-run philanthropy in Maryland. They spend the year fundraising and hosting fun events, then celebrate with a 12-hour Dance Marathon each March where more than 1,200 students remain standing to show their support for local pediatric patients! Former patients of Children’s National come party and celebrate to honor all they have accomplished and all the funds Terp Thon raised for kids just like them!
Terp Thon holds a “For the Kids Color Run” as part of the fundraising activities during the year. Terp Thon’s Color Run For The Kids is a 3-mile course throughout the University of Maryland’s campus, and is a great way to learn what Terp Thon is all about! Along the way runners are covered in color, thrown by our Miracle Kids and their Families, and at the end there is a giant color toss with all participants involved. Thousands of students have fun and participate.
